GHOST & GOBLIN TRAIL© An Inn-to-Inn Trek for Treats A Halloween Event Bubbling Over With Treats, Tricks, Hauntingly Historic Inns and just in time for this year’s fun The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains!
The Bed & Breakfasts Inn Mount Washington Valley are pleased to announce the annual Ghost & Goblin Trail, Saturday, October 25, 2008, 11AM - 4PM. The self-guided tour of participating inns ... each with their own ghost stories ... will offer ticket holders a sampling of traditional treats prepared especially for Halloween. The Ghost & Goblin Trail stretches throughout the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of NH. Featured inns and their Country Partners, several locally owned and equally fun-loving businesses, will open their doors to costumed characters, spirits in Halloween make-up, and street-clothed participants alike. Those “dressed for the occasion” will automatically receive their treats and clues. However, those in street clothes must earn their treat at every stop ... by first performing a task drawn from a bag o’ tricks. Guests will also participate in the judging of each inn’s entrance decorations.
The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains, a riddle and jumbled word contest. The tour inns will accompany their gastronomic goodie with a clue hidden within their tour booklet page. Properly interpreted, the combinations of all the clues, when “de-jumbled”, will “inn-form” the diligent detective and solve The Great Mystery Muddle of the White Mountains. Should more than one savvy sleuth unscramble the correct answer, the lucky winner will be chosen by random drawing. The grand prize valued at over $400 includes a $200 certificate good toward a two-night stay at any participating Bed and Breakfasts Inns Mt Washington Valley, a dinner certificate for The Notchland Inn, a horse or carriage ride for two at the Farm by the River & Stables, and a special treat bag chock-a-block full with fun prizes contributed by the Bed & Breakfasts Inn Mt Washington Valley and their Country Partners.
As the ticket holders judge the entrance decorations of the Inns, the Innkeepers & Country Partners will be judging the costumes & Halloween make-ups of their guests. The person they choose Best Inn Spirit of the Day will receive a gift certificate good toward a 5-course dinner for two at the Notchland Inn, an $80 value.
All tickets for the public, costumed or not, are $15 and are available from participating inns. Many of the inns are offering tickets as part of their Ghost & Goblin Trail packages, which may also include two-night stays, breakfast for two each day, costume prizes, jack-o-lanterns, theme dinners, hay rides and other treasures. Revelers will return home with fond memories and the Ghost & Goblin Trail Booklet containing the collection of the day’s goodie recipes, the official map, bits of Halloween trivia and, most importantly, the embedded clues to solve the Mystery Muddle. All proceeds from this event go to the Bed & Breakfasts Inn Mt Washington Valley Hospitality Scholarship.
